 SHS법에 의한 $TiB_2-B_4C$ 복합체의 합성 및 기계적 특성 연구 이형복, 강석원, 윤영진 명지대학교 무기재료공학과 A Study on Synthesis an Mechanical Properties of $TiB_2-B_4C$ Composite by SHS Method ABSTRACT TiB2 and B4C were prepared from a mixture of metal titanium boron and carbon powder in vacuum by Self-propagating high temperature Synthesis. The characterization of synthesized powder and sintered properties of TiB2-B4C composite as a function of B4C content were investigated. The average particle size of the synthesized TiB2-B4C composite powders were smaller than that of the starting material. From the results of the temperature profile composite powders were smaller than that of the starting material. From the results of the temperature profile combustion temperature and velocity were decreased with increasing B4C content. The most excellent mechanical properties could be obtained at 20vol% B4C content in TiB2-B4C composite and then the relative density 3-point flexural strength hardness and fracture toughness of TiB2-20 vol% B4C composite at 190$0^{circ}C$ for 60 min by hot-pressing without sintering agent showed 96% 415MPa 1950kg/mm2 and 3.7 MPa.m1/2 respectively Key words: Titanium dibordie, SHS, $TiB_2-B_4C$ composite, Temperature profile, Combustion velocity
