Study on Synthesis and Composite by SHS Microwave
ABSTRACT
A composite materials was prepared by the SHS method using addition of presynthesized SiC to the systems Ti-C which leads to the Ti-C-SiC composites. Sintering conditions were 156$0^{circ}C$ 30MPa for hour. After sintering the composites consist of TiC, SiC and TiSi2 with increasing SiC contents(5, 15, 20 and 30 wt%) TiSi2 also increases whereas the Ti content decreases. According to the temperature profiles an addition of 5wt% SIC raises the formation temperature up to 2972$^{circ}C$ with 15wt% SiC show composites of the system Ti-C-SiC an optimum of their properties ; for examples a fired density of 4.10g/cm3 modulus of rupture 443.5 MPa and Kk-53MPa.m1/2
