ABSTRACT |
Titanium carbide has attracted considerable attention for the development of ultrahigh-temperature ceramics and electromagnetic interference-shielding applications. Titanium carbide is widely used in a colloid state in the sintering or synthesis to improve the sinterability and homogeneity. However, titanium carbide particles in an aqueous solution are aggregated because of their low dispersibility. To enhance the dispersibility of the particles in an aqueous solution, anionic surface modification and anionic dispersant were used in this study. A polyacrylic acid anionic treatment modified the particles by forming hydroxyl and carboxyl groups on their surfaces. Ammonium polymethacrylate, an anionic dispersant, was added to the suspension to improve the electrostatic force of the particles. The dispersibility and viscosity of the suspension were changed with the variation in the polyacrylic acid content and addition of ammonium polymethacrylate. |
